"Retired Boot" - Texas Hill Country
This boot may have been made for walking but now in retirement it is adorning a wooden fence pole with barbed wire in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
"Retired Boots" - Texas Hill Country
Did you notice the spider's web going from the tip of the boot to the barbed wire fence?
There were actually numerous boots along this particular fence. I spent a while looking for the perfect boot with the perfect background. Once I found it I set up my 300mm f2.8 lens on my tripod across the street for a tight shot with limited depth of field.
Which boot to choose from...
Careful framing and focusing allowed me to keep the entire fence and boot in perfect focus and shooting at f8 allowed me to reduce the background to a pleasing blur allowing the fence and boot to stand out even more.
A partially cloudy day helped with the light, providing a pleasingly bright but soft light to allow the colors of the boot and flowers to shine through.

Thanks Randy - glad to help and inspire and thanks for following!
Great post. It is always helpful when the elite photographers like you explain how they got the shot. I always gain from these posts and end up using them in my business. Thanks.
