This old Jeep pickup truck was found behind an old convenience store in a fairly remote area of North Texas.

I photographed it in the spring of 2012 when I was showing my artwork at two fine art festivals in the Dallas area. In-between shows I had a full day of photography in North Texas. This is my first release from that excursion.

I was all set with my camera on my tripod and photographing already when I noticed a cat start to explore the truck. I waited as it started walking around the back and fired off three quick exposures with the cat in this position.

The cat couldn't have been in a better position for me with this composition, and I really liked its pose. A nice enhancement to what I felt was already a strong image.

I blended the three different exposures into one HDR photo using Nik Software's HDR Efex Pro Photoshop plugin. I further enhanced the photo using Color Efex Pro 4 software. I also added a photo texture from FlyPaper Textures into the sky to add a little bit of drama there.

The HDR process did an incredible job bringing out extreme detail in the Jeep. In fact there is so much detail you can even read the tire size on the front of the tire closest to the camera - see enlarged view below.

The photo below shows what one of the original three photos looked like, straight from the camera with no adjustments or enhancements made.

I knew there was a striking image in there somewhere, and by combining the exposures from three different photos I was able to find it.
