A couple weeks ago I spend 5 days photographing in Zion National Park in Utah. This was my first visit to the park, and it certainly will not be my last. I spent the 5 days photographing, hiking, and scouting locations for future shoots. This was also my first photo trip with my new Lance truck camper.
Having the truck camper is quite a departure from sleeping in a tent. It provides me with a comfortable, secure, dry, warm or cold (with the A/C) home base from which to plan my photo trips. Batteries for cameras and laptops stay charged, drinks and food stay cold in the fridge, etc. Once removed from the truck and left at the campground I am free to drive throughout the area. While I love sleeping in a tent – and still will depending on where I want to photograph – having the comfort of an RV sure has it’s moments.
The photo trip was a great success and I have added 8 images from the trip to my website. My favorite photo of the trip is below and was taken during a tiring 7+ mile hike along a creek that included a lot of boulder-hopping, creek crossings, trail findings, and at one time walking through pools of water 3 feet deep – all with a heavy backpack filled with water, food and of course camera gear.
